Try a Shopify price calculator on Free (and on a development store)

You know the math: width × height × rate. Shopify still caps you at three options and 2048 variants. Millimetres are not an option. The native limit is not a sandbox

Adding variants does not give you a playground with continuous dimensions. Line item properties land on the order and do not change the price.

Shops stall in three ways:

Quote everything. Email in, spreadsheet out. You never learn whether Dawn (or your custom theme) will pick up the calculator price.

Fake the matrix. A variant every 10 cm. You burn the 2048 cap and still cannot sell 148.2 cm.

Skip Free. Starter goes live on production. The first paying customer is also the first proof that Add to cart still reads the variant price.

Parentheses are not Premium. The formula builder allows `+ - × ÷ ( )` on Free. `product_price + (width * height)` is a Free formula. Math helpers are fine until you need if/then.

Development-store checks people skip: the same theme app extension you will use live; a product with real colour SKUs; a test checkout that actually submits; server-side validation on so preview and cart cannot diverge. Free increments on successful calculated orders. Abandoned checkouts do not spend a use; completed ones do.
