Translate Shopify metaobjects — not only product titles

German is published. Product titles moved. The size-guide section still reads three USP cards from a metaobject: “Fit”, “Fabric”, “Care”. On `/de` those strings stay Dutch. Translate & Adapt showed the product. The metaobject lives under Content → Metaobjects. Jobs that only ran products never touched it.

Translate Shopify metaobjects is a listing USP of OO - Ultimate AI Translations, next to products, pages, and theme. What is OO Translations?: *Enable and translate metaobjects.* Same editor, same locks, same Missing / Outdated jobs. Not a second app.

Job history is how you see which type actually ran. Products first is still the calm order. This article is the type shops skip because it is not called a product.

A metaobject is storefront copy without a SKU

Shopify metaobjects are reusable entries: size-guide blocks, lookbooks, FAQ rows, USP cards a section reads. Source lives under content, not Products. Markets publishes the locale. It does not fill the fields.

Jobs skip, including on metaobjects: handles, URLs, IDs, SKUs, barcodes, size codes (S/M/L), JSON, empty source, locked fields. Handle `fit-regular` must not become a German slug because the section points at it. The title “Fit” should move.

A save in the editor locks the field. Scheduled or automatic jobs will not overwrite it. Unlock is explicit. FAQ: jobs skip empty source, locked, and technical values.

Free: app at $0, your own AI (OpenAI-compatible), unlimited languages/markets/translations, language switcher. No backups, no scheduled jobs, no App AI. Professional $10/month + usage: monthly schedule, glossary, 1+1 backup, App AI at ~$0.01/unit (pass-through). Plus $20: daily, 5+5 backups. 0 reviews, launched 14 October 2026. Do not invent ratings.

What shops translate until the USP card stays NL

Products only, “we’ll get to the rest.” Peak season. Titles green. Metaobject fields Missing. The PDP mixes a German title with a Dutch fit card. History shows content type products. That is not a broken model.

One Missing+Outdated blast across every type. Usage (your OpenAI bill or App AI) spikes. Theme, metaobjects, and 2,000 titles in one night. Quick start: one language, small type, read Jobs, then widen. Daily is Plus. Monthly is Professional. Free = you start the job; metaobjects are allowed, the clock is not.

Unlock-all so metaobjects “can run.” Locks exist for marketing lines you wrote. Unlocking product titles to force a metaobject job is the wrong control. Select the content type. Leave locked product copy locked.

Skip the glossary on brand tokens inside the metaobject. Glossary is Professional. “Peak” as a brand should not become a translation of “peak” on a USP card any more than on a product title. Brand voice rides the AI request. Free has no glossary checkbox — do not sell one at $0.

None of that is: content type metaobjects, Missing or Outdated, unlocked, Jobs for skipped handles (good) versus failed (key / model / credits).

Same editor, different type

Side-by-side: source vs target. Translate actions for Missing / Outdated. Customer-facing: titles, descriptions, SEO, option labels, image alt — and the metaobject fields Shopify marks translatable. No checkout HTML.

Jobs & schedule: daily / weekly / monthly, timezone, content types, Missing/Outdated. Draft themes sit on the listing next to metaobjects; a draft-theme job is not the same type. Do not lump them “because neither is a product”.

Connect AI: base URL, key, model. Or App AI on $10/$20 at real translation cost. Failed in Jobs: fix the provider first, not a louder schedule.

Language switcher is on Free. Preview after the locale is published. Unpublished locales can still sit in a job so copy exists before go-live — manage languages. The switcher is missing on the storefront if the embed or block is off the live theme.

Walkthrough: size-guide metaobject, DE market, titles already done

“Peak Knit”. Product titles in DE are fine. Metaobject `size_guide` with title, body, three USP strings. Section on the product page.

  1. Install OO - Ultimate AI Translations. Free + own AI to feel it.

  2. Connect AI or App AI on Professional.

  3. Tiny test job: DE, metaobjects, Missing. Jobs: translated / skipped / failed. Handles in skipped: good.

  4. Editor: one entry, NL source, DE target. A line marketing wrote: save → locked.

  5. The rest: Outdated later, not the same night as 2,000 titles.

  6. Storefront `/de` product page: USP cards in German. Switcher. No Dutch fallback in that section.

Glossary on Professional: term `Peak` per language. Same request as products. Backup before a large first metaobject run: Professional/Plus, not Free.

Get it live

  1. Open the listing. Free if you already pay an AI provider. $10 if you want monthly jobs and a glossary.

  2. What is OO Translations?: metaobjects are on the map.

  3. One language, type metaobjects, Missing, read Jobs.

  4. Respect locks. Handles may be skipped.

  5. Do not add theme and products “while we’re here” the same night.

Docs hub: OO Translations — Translating (editor, locks, metaobjects).

Wrap-up

Translate Shopify metaobjects is not another product. It is a content type in the same app as titles and theme. Native Shopify does not fill them because you published DE. Jobs do Missing/Outdated, skip technical values, lock what you saved. Free runs on your AI without a clock. Professional puts the clock on a month. App AI ~$0.01/unit, no markup pitch.

Put metaobjects on the job in OO - Ultimate AI Translations. The title is German. The fit card is too.
