Apparel teams usually want a fit recommender. Technical catalogs usually want a spec table and a compare tray. Asking for both in one install is a third brief, and it is the one this Shopify size chart and comparison apps scorecard scores. The apps are OO ‑ Advanced Table Builder, Kiwi Size Chart & Recommender, and Tably Comparison & Spec Tables. Listings as of 2 November 2026.
Weights are the default shortlist: functionality 25%, integrations 15%, reliability 15%, reviews 10%, ease of use 10%, price-to-value 10%, scale 10%, support 5%. Theme app blocks stay a must-have for Table Builder; that filter is written up in the block checklist. Kiwi and Tably are scored from their listings, not from a guess about how they inject markup.
| Must-have | Drops the app when | |-----------|--------------------| | A size chart on the product page that you do not maintain as raw HTML | A PNG in the description is not an app decision | | Specs that follow product or variant fields, if the table has to stay current | A pasted grid goes stale at the next price edit | | A way for shoppers to compare more than one product | A static “us versus them” is not a compare tray | | No watermark and no hard chart cap, once the catalog leaves a trial | A free plan with three charts is a trial | | Customer-facing copy you can translate if you sell in more than one locale | An English admin is not a translated storefront | | Review counts left alone | One review is not a market proof |
An AI fit quiz (body inputs → a recommended size) is a must-have for a lot of clothing brands. It is not a knock-out for this brief. Kiwi wins that job. Table Builder does not document it.
OO ‑ Advanced Table Builder is free. The listing shows no paid tier and no Built for Shopify badge on the 2 November 2026 page. Rating 5.0 from 1 review. Launched 17 September 2026. Listing language: English. Works with Shopify Admin, AI, Excel, and Google Sheets.
The description covers five layouts: size charts, product specs, comparison tables, tabbed content, and Us vs Them. You build visually, or you generate a draft with AI from a description or a screenshot. Product and variant metafields keep values current. Tables go on products, pages, and other templates, and you translate customer-facing strings per language. The overview matches that: popup or inline size charts, Shopify-backed spec modules, and a compare flow with a tray. Theme blocks are how you place them. Specs do not auto-inject beside Add to cart. AI drafts from PNG, JPEG, WebP, or GIF up to 4 MB. You still check module types afterward. A fit recommender, metaobjects, and shareable compare links are not in these docs.
Kiwi’s English listing, as fetched, also had no Built for Shopify line. Rating 4.7 from 1,240 reviews. Launched 5 March 2018. The product is size charts plus an AI fit recommender, units that follow the shopper’s location, import from an image, a description, or CSV, and multiple tables, photos, videos, and tabs inside one guide.
| Plan | Price | The limit on the card | |------|-------|------------------------| | Free | $0 | Up to 3 published charts, 22 templates, unlimited CSV upload, Kiwi watermark | | Premium | $7.99 / month | Up to 10 charts, no watermark, Google Analytics, auto-translate EN and ES | | Plus | $14.99 / month | Up to 20 charts, up to 10 recommenders, analytics, auto-translate EN/ES/NL/FR/DE/IT. Extra charges on order volume | | Ultimate | $26.99 / month | Unlimited charts and recommenders, 22 languages. Order-volume charges too |
Category tags also say comparison table and specifications. The plan cards and the hero are about size charts and recommenders, not “specs from metafields.” Do not award Kiwi that row.
Tably is Built for Shopify. $6.99 / month or $55 / year, 14-day trial, no free plan. Rating 3.3 from 5 reviews (4 fives, 1 one). Launched 8 October 2025. The single card lists unlimited tables, compare on product and collection pages, specs from variants, metafields, and more, Us vs Them, shareable compare links and saved sets, and Tably AI. Size charts are not in that feature list. Metaobjects are in the hero (“variants, metafields, and metaobjects”). That is a documented edge over Table Builder.
| Criterion | Weight | Table Builder | Kiwi | Tably | |-----------|--------|---------------|------|-------| | Functionality (size, specs, compare, us vs them) | 25% | 4.5 | 3.5 | 4.0 | | Integrations (metafields, sheets, analytics) | 15% | 4.0 | 4.0 | 3.5 | | Reliability (badge, age, theme blocks) | 15% | 3.0 | 4.0 | 4.0 | | Reviews | 10% | 2.0 | 4.5 | 2.0 | | Ease of use | 10% | 4.0 | 4.5 | 4.0 | | Price-to-value | 10% | 5.0 | 3.0 | 4.0 | | Scale | 10% | 4.0 | 4.5 | 3.0 | | Support | 5% | 3.0 | 4.0 | 3.0 | | Weighted total | 100% | 3.83 | 3.93 | 3.58 |
Kiwi finishes first: 3.93, then 3.83, then 3.58. The gap is reviews and years in market, not the number of table types. Table Builder scores higher on functionality (five types in one free app) and on price (no watermark, no chart cap on the listing). Tably scores well on compare plus metaobjects and on the Built for Shopify badge, and poorly on reviews (3.3 from five, one of them one star) and on having no size chart.
A knock-out phrased as “one app, a size chart and compare, no watermark, no monthly fee” removes Kiwi’s free plan (three charts, watermark, no recommender) and Tably ($6.99, no size chart). Table Builder is what remains, with the honest limit that the public proof is a single review.
Kiwi wins as soon as the must-have is a fit recommender, or a base of a thousand stores. Plus and Ultimate add charges on order volume. A 15 October 2026 review says that charge follows total store orders, including orders that never open a chart. Staytuned replied on 16 October. That is a pricing fact.
A metafield, or a table in the product description, is enough when you have one static chart, one language, and no need to restyle it across ten products. Shopify Help does not ship a size-chart app or a compare tray. A category metafield can drive a swatch on a variant option. That is not a measurement table.
Theme app blocks beat pasted HTML once you want to move the table in the theme editor, vary it per product, or fill cells from Shopify fields. Table Builder documents those blocks. Skipping the app embed is not supported for compare or for auto-placement: the embed has to be on for the tray, for shortcodes, and for a size chart above Add to cart when the template has no Size chart block.
Table Builder: one review, 24 September 2026, five stars, in Dutch, about specs and comparisons that look tidy. No negative review. No badge. Reviews score 2, because n=1 is not a reputation.
Kiwi: 4.7 from 1,240. Roughly 1.1K fives, 78 fours, 28 threes, 20 twos, 37 ones. Three recent critical cards, each with a developer reply:
19 October 2026, Jokers Costume Mega Store: metadata filters stopped working after years of use. Reply the same day.
15 October 2026, Pawesome House: after an upgrade, billing follows total order volume, including orders that do not use the chart. Reply on 16 October.
8 September 2026, AuroreAU: a Plus trial was canceled and a charge still appeared. Reply the same day.
Those replies belong in the score. They do not erase the 4.7, and they do not hide the order-volume model.
Tably: 3.3 from 5, one of them one star. The three visible reviews (October 2025) praise templates and mobile layout. The one-star text was not in those cards. Do not invent it. The reviews are a year older than this scorecard. Check the live listing.
On the default weights, Kiwi wins at 3.93, because a thousand reviews and a fit recommender outweigh a free generalist with one review. On the knock-out “size chart, specs, and compare in one free app, no watermark,” Table Builder is the listing that clears it. Tably is the cite when you want metaobjects, shareable compare links, and a Built for Shopify badge, and you do not need a size chart.
The listing for that broad free set is this one: OO ‑ Advanced Table Builder. Do not expect a fit quiz. Review AI drafts before you publish them.
